does anyone else miss their bike like I do?
Up to Superbikes
I'm going through horrible withdrawals. My bike spent a couple of months in the shop waiting for cams to come. Part of the reason that it took a long time to get it done was the fact that I had my Aprilia to ride and I told the shop to feel free to make it a winter project.
Well, I got it back a day and a half before IMS, so I spent all that time polishing it instead of riding it (the weather was crap and I wouldn't have had time to clean it if I rode it before the show).
So, I get back from the show and it was the next Saturday before I had the time to ride it. I change into my gear, go to the gas station and fill up, decide on the route that I'm taking, and head down the main road through McMinnville.
I'm trolling along in traffic at about 10 miles an hour. I look down and notice that my left mirror is out of adjustment. I reach down to adjust it. About then, I notice in my periferal vision that a four-wheel drive pickup truck has stopped short in the middle of the block. I grab a major handful of front brake and stand on the back brake. No luck. My headlight hits the bottom lip of his stepbumper, breaks my headlight, cracks my fairing, and bends the front subframe that hold the headlight and gauges.
Damn It!!! If I'd have had 1/2 an inch more room, I would have missed him. Instead, I ended up with a $1200 parts bill and more time without my bike. I should have it back soon.
Oh, and the Aprilia, its sprag clutch too a dump and fixing it could cost another $600 to $1000.
We must really love these bikes to keep dumping money into them and still miss them when we can't ride them.
